Nihon aka Nippon is the Japanese name of Japan. Nihon literally means the origin of the sun. Such name originated from the idea that the sun rise from the direction of Japan in the eyes of people in Ancient China. In Western country, it’s often translated and referred to as ‘land of the rising sun’.
